Cannonau

Cannonau

One of the local native Sardinian grape (dating back to 14 century b.C), the Cannonau is currently the most grown Sardinian red grape (almost the 30% of the whole production).
It loves warm climates but it resists quite well to cold winters and sea winds. It grows better in medium-poor and dry soils but it needs a good exposure.
The varietal Cannonau is ruby red with garnet hints; it gives off intense fragrances of berries and spices, while the taste is smooth, dry and fruity.
